Visitor Demand
Monthly visitors and pages per visit estimate the total number of page loads generated by human traffic.
SwissHosting Free Tool
Estimate monthly website bandwidth, origin transfer, average throughput, and daily usage from visitor volume, pages per session, average page weight, and cache efficiency. Use the results to compare VPS, dedicated server, streaming, and high-transfer hosting requirements.
Include all page assets: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, embeds, and media segments. Downloads, API calls, bots, backups, and video streams should be added separately.
Calculation Method
The tool first estimates page views, then removes the percentage served from cache. Remaining origin page views are multiplied by average page size to estimate transfer from the hosting environment.
Origin transfer = Monthly visitors × Pages per visit × Average page size × (1 − Cache hit ratio)Monthly visitors and pages per visit estimate the total number of page loads generated by human traffic.
Average page size determines how much data each uncached page view may request from the origin server.
The cache hit ratio estimates the share of requests served by a CDN, proxy, browser cache, or edge platform instead of the origin.
Hosting Capacity
Bandwidth is only one sizing factor. CPU, RAM, storage, port speed, concurrency, application behavior, and sustained traffic also affect the correct service.
Current VPS plans include 5 TB, 10 TB, or 20 TB monthly transfer depending on the configuration. VPS is suitable for websites, applications, APIs, development, and moderate production workloads.
Compare VPS plans →Current dedicated configurations include up to 100 TB monthly transfer with 1 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s ports. Dedicated hardware is better for sustained traffic, large applications, virtualization, and high-throughput workloads.
Compare dedicated servers →Video, audio, downloads, game files, and continuous media delivery require workload-specific transfer planning. A page-view calculator may understate streaming demand.

A hosting bandwidth calculator estimates how much data a website or application may transfer during a month. This tool uses visitors, pages per visit, page size, and cache efficiency to estimate origin transfer.
It is a planning estimate, not a billing guarantee. Real usage can differ because of bots, API requests, file downloads, backups, software updates, media streams, failed requests, cache behavior, and traffic spikes.
Use the approximate transferred size of a typical fully loaded page, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, and embedded resources. Browser developer tools or performance-testing platforms can help measure transferred bytes.
The cache hit ratio is the percentage of requests served from a cache instead of the origin server. A 70% cache hit ratio means the tool estimates that 30% of page views still reach the hosting origin.
No. The main result focuses on estimated origin transfer after cache impact. CDN transfer, CDN request fees, image optimization, and edge-compute charges depend on the CDN provider and configuration.
Yes. Compare the estimated monthly transfer with the transfer allowance of the VPS plan, then also evaluate CPU, RAM, storage, operating system, application stack, and expected traffic peaks.
Yes. It can help estimate baseline transfer, but dedicated-server planning should also consider port speed, sustained Mbps, burst traffic, concurrent connections, storage I/O, database activity, and private-network traffic.
No. Average Mbps spreads the estimated transfer evenly across a 30-day month. Actual traffic is uneven, so peak throughput can be many times higher than the calculated monthly average.
A practical margin depends on the workload. Many projects reserve additional capacity for growth, traffic spikes, bots, downloads, application updates, and unexpected cache misses. High-traffic or revenue-critical services should use a larger margin.
Only for rough website-origin planning. Video streaming is better calculated from bitrate, viewer count, viewing duration, resolution, transcoding profiles, and delivery method. Contact SwissHosting for sustained streaming workloads.
